Director of the Bureau of Learning & Delivery, Department of Education, Philippines
Gerson Abesamis is an educator and designer who brings a human-centred approach to shaping learning experiences and environments. He is currently the Director of the Bureau of Learning and Delivery at the Department of Education, leading efforts to ensure access to, promote equity in, and improve the quality of basic education across the Philippines.
Director of Academics, EdTech & Quality Assurance at the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), Pakistan Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training
Ms Riffat Jabeen is currently serving as Director of Academics, EdTech & Quality Assurance at the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), Islamabad, where she oversees academic and student-related affairs across more than 400 educational institutions.
With a strong background in strategic planning, teacher professional development, and large-scale education reform, Ms Jabeen has led several transformative national initiatives aimed at improving access, equity, and quality in education. She played a pivotal role in conceptualising and launching TeleSchool, Pakistan’s first national educational television channel, ensuring continuity of learning for millions of students during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has also spearheaded innovative projects such as Connected Classrooms, School on Wheels, AI Labs, STEAM and Robotics Labs, and digital teacher training platforms.
Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Sierra Leone
Conrad O. Sackey is Sierra Leone’s Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education and a leading African voice on education reform, teacher governance, and system strengthening. He holds an MA in Education from University College London (UCL) and a BSc (Hons) in Economics from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and is a Chartered Director (CDir) of the Institute of Directors, UK.
He serves as Interim Chair of the General Assembly of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) and is a Steering Committee Member of the Foundational Learning Action Tracker (FLAT) initiative supported by global partners including UNICEF and the Hempel Foundation. He is also a member of the Mastercard Foundation’s Strategic Advisory Group for the Secondary Education in Africa Report (Phase II). Minister Sackey is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellow.
Deputy Director of Education in the directorate of Policy, partnerships and EACA, Ministry of Education, Kenya
Dr Kawira Gikambi is a Deputy Director of Education in the Directorate of Policy, Partnerships and EACA at the Ministry of Education, Kenya. She is an educational planner and policy development expert with 25 years of experience in the education sector. She is passionate about equity-driven and inclusive education policies, plans and programmes in Kenya. She is currently leading the Ministry’s technical teams in developing the Teacher Education Policy, STEM education Policy, Refugee inclusion policy, and reviewing the ICT in education policy and the Gender in education policy. She also coordinates development partners who are supporting the GOK in policy development and implementation.
EdTech Hub Specialist, Kenya
Faith Mbushi Wanjiku is a seasoned policy researcher and development specialist with over 16 years of experience driving social impact across EdTech, gender, and public policy. Currently an EdTech Hub Specialist leading Kenya’s ICT in Education policy review, she is an accredited partnership broker dedicated to collective impact. Faith excels at translating research into inclusive national strategies and holds an MA from the University of York.
EdTech Hub Country Co-Lead, Pakistan
Nawaz Aslam is the Pakistan Country Lead at EdTech Hub, where he drives engagement and strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT), provincial Departments of Education, and other stakeholders to promote evidence-based decision-making. As an innovation expert, he draws on years of experience developing and implementing EdTech solutions in low-cost schools, with deep expertise in the challenges of technology integration in these contexts. His work focuses on generating rigorous evidence on EdTech effectiveness and making it accessible to policymakers, enabling data-driven strategies to improve education systems.
EdTech Hub, Asia Lead
Haani leads EdTech Hub’s Asia portfolio, which includes the Hub’s engagements in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. With over nine years of experience, she works closely with our country teams and partners to leverage evidence-based approaches in co-designing and implementing impactful digital solutions and policies.
This includes supporting decision-makers with the evidence needed to drive large-scale digital transformation, strengthen resilience during emergencies, and navigate the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence.
EdTech Hub, Country Co-Lead, Sierra Leone
Madleen Madina Frazer is a Senior Analyst at EdTech Hub in Sierra Leone, where she supports the design and evaluation of education innovations.
Prior to this, Madleen held key roles at the Ministry of Finance in Sierra Leone, including Assistant Director of Research and Delivery and Deputy Project Coordinator, where she led research on macroeconomic issues, coordinated donor engagement, and advanced the human capital development agenda. She holds an MPhil in Economics from the University of Ghana and a BSc in Economics from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.
ASEAN-UK SAGE Helpdesk Manager
Nimra leads the Southeast Asia Helpdesk Portfolio under the ASEAN-UK SAGE Programme at EdTech Hub. As an education policy specialist, her cross-regional experience spans South and South-East Asia, Africa and Europe. Previously, she has worked with the World Bank on early childhood education and education financing in West Africa and South Asia, and with UNESCO on education in emergencies.
Jazzlyne works with EdTech Hub’s Southeast Asia team to support our work under the ASEAN–UK SAGE Programme, coordinating with stakeholders—both government and non-government partners—across the region to deliver capacity building, research and analysis, and evidence-based recommendations to strengthen education- and EdTech-related service-delivery policies and programmes.
