Rethinking Content and the Teacher’s Role

Continuing critical AI in education conversations with a new podcast

A Community of Interest has been convened through a partnership between the World Bank and EdTech Hub, bringing together practitioners from around the world. Meeting once a month, this group has been engaged in exploring the impact of AI in education, focusing on insights, challenges, and opportunities as experienced by implementers and practitioners on the ground.

A recent virtual conversation explored how education implementers are approaching AI content generation, curation, and integration. Bringing together Joleen Liang, Co-founder of Squirrel AI, Srikanth Talapadi, Managing Director at Chimple, Mike Trucano, Senior Advisor, EdTech Hub AI Observatory and Action Lab and Non-Resident Fellow, Brookings Institution and Mark West, Education Specialist, UNESCO, the conversation explored diverse approaches to AI-supported content development and application, ways to tackle challenges that come with AI and more. 

The conversation has invited more insights that have gone further to look at AI and the teachers’ roles. This led to another podcast conversation with Joleen Liang, Srikanth Talapadi, and Daniel Plaut, Innovation Learning Lead at EdTech Hub. They started by sharing their key takeaways and reflections from the initial discussion. 

These conversations are essential as we know the coming years will be defined not only by how well AI tools are developed but by how deliberately they are integrated into education systems. By choosing collaboration, trust-building, and equity as guiding principles, the potential of AI to transform learning for all can be realised.
